A cocktail party held at St Mary’s Cathedral House on 7 February officially launched the Sydney Catholic Business Network program for 2014. The Hon Sussan Ley, MP, Assistant Minister for Education, was on hand to represent the Australian Prime Minister and offer her support and congratulations for the program’s success. His Eminence, Cardinal George Pell AC offered an insight on his recent trips to Rome and touched on other Archdiocesan initiatives.
Sydney Archdiocese Business Manager, Danny Casey presented plans for this year’s luncheons – Telstra Chairman Catherine Livingstone AO sets the bar high for the first luncheon scheduled on 4 April at the Hilton Sydney, along with following speakers later in the year including Governor General-designate, General Peter Cosgrove, AC and New York Archbishop, Cardinal Timothy Dolan. To finish off 2014 a panel of experts will discuss the future of education in Australia.
The Business Network has recently been boosted by the injection of new members – an increasing number by referral. This, along with plans to develop a more interactive website, allowing for even better networking opportunities among members, should add to the Network’s dynamism as well as providing the opportunity for future shared community initiatives.
