Launch of the Sydney Catholic Business Network
- 15 November 2011
Cardinal Pell launched the Sydney Catholic Business Network on 15 November 2011 and called on business men and women present to work together on contemporary issues within an ethical framework to promote Christian values.
The Cardinal outlined his aims of the Network hoping it will bring together business and community leaders – from all political persuasions – as well as people of the faith, to discuss matters of mutual concern, share ideas focused on contemporary issues and support the charitable works of the Sydney Archdiocese.
Cardinal Pell said the Catholic Church has always felt the responsibility of contributing to community needs. Talking to about one hundred business, community and political leaders attending the launch Cardinal Pell said the Catholic Church has always made a great contribution to civic life – schools, hospitals and welfare services.
“As Christians we strive to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and as Christian leaders it is our responsibility to be principled and ethical in all our dealings, whether it be with shareholders, employees, customers or clients, while being aware of our responsibilities to Australian society generally,” Cardinal Pell said.
